has anyone used one of the fingerprint keyed gun safes?
This one is called the "bio box"

I was wondering about the quality of these, could they be pryed open easily? do they work well?
The "fingerprint reader" handgun safe I bought was this one that the link will show you. I bought it from Cabelas about 8 months ago.

I could only get the print reader on it to work about 50% of the time, so I sent it back for a refund
I also have a computer fingerprint reader from Microsoft that won't work if it gets dusty. That may have been what was causing the problems with the handgun safe as well.....not sure. I didn't want to risk it not opening when I REALLY needed it to, so I just got rid of it.
Apparently after reading some of the comments customers have given other safes of this type, it is a common gripe that they don't always work as intended.
NOT worth risking your life on!!

1) If it isn’t bolted down, a thief will steal it one and all and get your gun in the privacy of his own rec room.
2) If it is bolted down, the primary purpose to give you fast access in the event of intrusion or other emergency.
3) This one at least has a backup key in the even the batteries run out.
Based on looking at it, it gets a C+. It will keep the neighborhood kids from getting access to your firearm (assuming it is bolted down), but anyone else is going to get that thing. The backup key is useful, but a device like this should be tested that the fingerprint reader works 100% of the time, even in the dark and even if you are poking at it blindly. Otherwise you safe in the box gun will not help you much if you cannot get it out before the intruder gets you.
You are better off with a real dedicated gunsafe and leaving your weapon in the nightstand drawer at night, then always putting in in the safe when you leave.

for a good finger print safe you have to spend a lot and even then you will have to clean it all the time. just get one with a combination key pad and make sure you bolt it down. the key pad make it quick to get into and still secure.
