There are so many unfortunate circumstances that can befall our valuables when we keep them in our house. From very deliberate, premeditated lawbreaking that sees someone take our valuables away with malice aforethought to unfortunate domestic disasters like a flood or a fire, we can lose the things that matter most to us at very short notice and in a range of ways. Getting hold of the right kind of safe could just be the best way of protecting your valuables from such fates – and the companies who make safes are now more aware than ever how many different ways people lose their valuables.
By making a safe from the correct materials it is possible to protect it from more circumstances than ever before. This includes a house fire. Where before there would have been as much danger to goods inside a safe as there would to goods outside in case of fire, there is now a range of fire-protected safes that can keep cash and delicate items out of reach from the damage that is caused by high temperatures, smoke and flames.

Digital media such as DVDs, CDs and USB drives can be kept inside the safe, which keeps the fire and the heat outside – saving the items from being damaged by warping or melting, or in the case of cash, from burning. This extra level of security can save you from higher insurance premiums as well as from theft, so it is worth paying the extra money for this reason.

When a plane crashes, there is almost always one part of that plane that survives – the black box. Also known as the flight data recorder, the black box is kept in a reinforced container that protects it from damage even in the most extreme cases. Unless the plane crash impacts directly onto the spot where the flight data recorder is kept, there will be some record of what happened immediately prior to the crash and why the plane crashed.
Working on a similar principle to this, the fire proof wall safe has been developed. Although we think of safes as a way of preventing our valuables from being stolen, there are more uses for the safe than just that. One of these uses, and perhaps one that escapes people’s attention too often, is to prevent the valuables from sustaining damage in the case of some kind of domestic disaster. Not least of these is a house fire.

By casting the safe from a certain kind of material, the makers ensure that it will be impervious to fire, at least for an extended period. This enables the owner to keep valuables such as cash, digital media such as USB sticks or DVDs, or anything else that might sustain fire damage – all without worrying that the goods may be destroyed in case of fire. Using a fire proof safe allows protection on two different fronts – from accidental damage in case of fire, and from very deliberate theft.
