Question by chickenonastick: How was the gun used to kill Matthew Winkler clicked off safe?
I know guns, but this I cannot figure out. If Mary did not know how to operate the features of a shotgun, as her attorneys themselvs stated, and if the gun cannot be discharged without pulling the trigger, as the TBI weapons expert stated-also testifying that the gun was functioning properly, and if there is no question on either side that Mary Winkler was holding the gun when her husband was shot, then how did the safety get clicked from "safe" to "fire" mode? Are her lawyers and the D.A. missing this or are her lawyers implying that Matthew actually kept a loaded gun on the top shelf of a closet in which the safety was not engaged?

Question by stefanie.clouse: Should "safe place" be included in teaching children about strangers?
I work with an Educational Outreach Theatre touring to Elementary Schools teaching kids about safety. We have a 20 minute show during which we teach about Strangers, Food, Fire, and Gun Safety. I feel everything but Stranger Safety is clearly taught.
In our script, the Stranger Safety section includes defining the term "stranger" as "someone you've never met before" and then delineates two questions that a child should ask themselves if they are ever around a stranger to determine whether or not they're safe - "Am I in a safe place?" and "Am I with a safe adult?". When I am asked by another character "What is a safe adult?" I explain that it is "someone whose job it is to keep you safe" but when I am asked "what is a safe place?" I simply say "There are lots of safe places, like your home or school".
My confusion is that we never define safe place and I honestly don't believe there is a "safe place" anyway. I feel a place can only be safe if there is a safe adult there.

Answer by djgardne I agree with your last statement. No place is completely safe for a child without an adult there. I've got some of my kids (I teach 2nd grade) that are going home to an empty apartment. Although safe with an adult there - it is definitely not safe for that child to be home alone. I think that you've got to have that script tie together having an adult there. Perhaps then also put them more on guard in "unsafe" places even when adults are there. They should be on high alert in a mall, theme park, public restroom, or other places that could be crowded and tough to stay with an adult.
Question by Rodney: exactley how safe are fair rides (considering they've been correctly put up and managed)?
i know this is kinda long but please actually read instead of just randomly putting "oh there 100 percent safe!" ...
summary:does the ride spinning keep u safe?
how safe are fair rides? heres the thing.theres this ride i missed out on last year called the extreme . i wanted to get on but i didnt cause i was to scared and figured u could fly out. (ok maybe not actually fly out but close enough to falling out) so i skipped out. but i happend to read about a ride called pharaohs fury and it said some kind of force (forgot name) keeps u stuck to your seat even without safety bar. and i remembered how the operator guy drunk a bit of and then sat a pop bottle in the middle and it just stayed there and he picked it up after the ride.and then i remembered ride called zero gravity where ur stuck to the wall of it even though it goes vertical and u have a flimsy rope for safety but force keeps u stuck. (so does on that space ship ride).
aaannnddd thhheeennn finally after watching vids i noticed... alot of rides spin. though not exactley really fast. maybe its for extra thrill to make u think ur gonna bang into the post (thats sure what id think) or maybe its to keep u stuck to ur seat so incase the bar does fail u wont happen to go flying all the way to the top of the ferris wheel at 100 miles per hour (though if u think about it that is a bit slow rotation. but how fast the rest of the ride is swinging maybe it helps.sooooo yaaa. just wondering if u know the name of the force and hpw its applied and how safe rides ACTUALLY are. (and yes i know u cant be 100% sure it gonna work correctlly but assuming it does). soooo. ya
help is very appreciated seeing as our fair comes in a few weeks. k thx !

Answer by Ralph Robert If you will go to the fair everyday, you have a higher chance to die on your way there than the ride itself.

www.sturdysafe.com This is how to test the linkage of your next safe. If you perform this test, and the linkage of the safe is weak, the door will remain shut and it wont open. Safes that get damaged like this will have problems such as; locking the owner out if someone jerks on the handle, or will have random parts that break from everyday use. Terry has done this test on this same safe for over 30 years. Video Rating: 4 / 5
