Security Safes is a wall safe an easier option

Whenpeople thinkof safesin the home or workplacetheyveryoftenimmediately bring to mind the idea of a huge steelbox sitting in the corner of a room witha dialthat only a talented detectivewitha stethoscope couldpossibly break in to.

They'reusually brownin colourand prettyunattractiveso hiding one next to the televisionis generallya no-no.It'sprettyunlikelyyou\'d be able to get one to fit in withthe decoreither,so taking alonga piece of carpet or curtainto your localsafeshopis unlikelyto do you any good.

Luckily, there\'s anotheroptionand it can actuallymeanyou have a more secureoption. It'sthe wall-safeand althoughtheyrequirea little work, theycan offer an extremely usefulplaceto store your valuables.

A wallsafe, as if you didn\'t already realise,is essentially a safethat is inserted into a wall. It obviously needsto be installed professionally to ensure it\'s secureand can'tsimplybe rippedout the wall, but if done properlyyou have not only an extremely secureplaceto put things, it\'s also hidden.

Although safesare by their verynature, safe, why not take awayany temptation the thiefmay have by simplyhiding the safeitself. If the thiefhas got enough time, theymay be temptedto try to break in or force a safedoor. If theycan'tevenfind it then theywillnever evenattempt it.

Obviouslythereare somedownfallsto this approach as wallsafesdo have limitations. For example, theyare veryoftenmuch smaller than normal safes, walls;justaren\'t as big as theyused to be, but if you\'re juststoringjeweleryor money, this shouldn\'t be a problem.

Thereare otherbenefits to wallsafes, the mainone being that as it\'s in a wall, you don\'t need to stoopso low in order to reachit. Thiscan be a fantasticboon to the elderly or infirm.

What to Include in Your Wall Safe Checklist

What to Include in Your Wall Safe Checklist

Hopefully you considered what you were going to put in your wall safe before you purchased it to make sure that you got the one that suits you best. But now that your wall safe is smartly installed behind your favorite painting, it is time to get serious. Here is a checklist of possible things that you may want to keep secure from theft or damage, regardless of your original purpose behind the purchase.

First, important documents. Not only is it vital to keep such documents safe, but it is nice to know where to look for them. Types of documents might include birth certificates, marriage and death certificates, deeds and titles, insurance policy information, investment portfolios or information, passports, social security cards, wills and trusts, appraisals, mortgage documents, health records, home inventory, copy of receipts for major purchases, or anything else you may want to keep secure or out of other peoples hands.

Most wall safes are smaller than a full size safe, so rifles may not fit (though there are closet sized wall safes that would work) but hand guns should be kept secure. Keeping a pistol in a safe keeps them out of small hands and possible tragedy. You should also include ammunition or other related items in your safe.

A back up of any important digital media should be kept in your wall safe. What you keep on this external hard drive, CD's or thumb drive will vary from individual to individual but may include the following: digital pictures, financial information, your music, work related documents, personal correspondence, internet book marks, password information etc. You may also want to keep a back up of important computer programs that you use. You do not have to back up your entire computer (unless you really want to), but just things that you would really need or miss. There are plenty of things I am loathe to throw away from my hard drive, but if my computer was destroyed I probably wouldn't even miss! Be aware that if you have a lot of media that you want to protect that it does damage at lower temperatures than paper so you will want a wall safe with higher fire ratings.

Any valuables that you have, such as jewelry. This would also include heirloom items which may have a monetary or sentimental value. This may include collectible items such coins or baseball cards or any other small items you collect. Also, any one of a kind items such as autographed pictures. Basically, whatever is valuable to you that you would not want destroyed in a fire or other natural disaster should be put in your wall safe.

I also like to put a bit of emergency cash in my safe. It doesn't have to be a lot, that is obviously what a bank is for, but knowing that you have some cash in the house that you can access at any time for any reason can bring a lot of peace of mind.

I have tried to be thorough, and though you probably don't have everything I've listed, hopefully it has gotten you thinking as to what is important to you that you need to protect. A wall safe is an important purchase, to keep your valuables and important information safe from theft or damage, so make sure you use it wisely.

How To Install A Wall Safe

How To Install A Wall Safe

<!--StartFragment-->

Purchasing a wall safe is a great investment to your home and valuables.  Every year millions of dollars in valuables are stolen or damaged in fires and purchasing a security safe is the first step to help safe guard your future in the event of a fire or burglary.  If you've decided on purchasing a wall safe, there are a few things you need to know before you install it.

Installing a wall safe should be a fairly easy job for most Do-It-Yourself'ers.  Sure you could pay a contractor to come out and spend 0+ for someone to do it for your, but we're going to show you just how easy it is to install a wall safe.

One of the reasons people choose wall safes, is that they can discreetly hide your valuables in the event of a burglary.  Burglars often look directly for security safes to see if they can crack them, or carry them out of the house.  By discreetly hiding your wall safe, you are ahead of the game when it comes to beating the odds.  Carefully decide where you want to place your wall safe.  It may be in a common wall behind a piece of art, behind a heavy dresser, under a kitchen counter, or other discreet place.  The possibilities are endless, just make sure that you have enough depth in the wall for the safe to sit in once it is mounted.  Although all wall safes are different, most models generally are 4-6" deep.

For the sake of this article we are going to assume you are using the most popular type of wall safe that mounts between common 16" studs in your wall.  The first step is to locate the studs by either knocking on the drywall to locate them, or you can buy a stud finder from a local hardware store.  These provide accurate stud locations and are cheap – in fact they generally cost less than .  Once you've located the studs, be careful to make sure there is no electrical wiring or plumbing in between the studs that you would want to avoid.

Next, use the template that came with your wall safe and trace the cutout template with a pencil.  Once you've traced it, you can use a simple drywall knife to start cutting out the hole for your safe.  Drywall knives are specifically designed for projects like this and can allow you to easily create accurate cutouts in your wall.  Always be sure to be conservative as it is easy to cut more, than to replace drywall you cut out.

Once the wall has been cut, you can place the safe in to make sure it is a good fit.  Once the wall safe fits snug and secure, use the mounting hardware or simple anchoring hardware and begin installing the anchors and screws.  If you are using anchors, you may need to mark the mounting marks with a pencil, move the safe, put in the anchors, mount the safe, and then screw in the screws.

Once you have securely mounted the safe, install the flange and make sure it has a snug fit against your wall!  Vacuum up any remaining drywall dust and your done!

Most popular wall safes can easily be installed in less than an hour by the most inexperienced of handymen.  By following these instructions, you'll be sure that your wall safe is installed correctly and provides maximum protection from theft and damage!

Should You Invest in a Wall Safe to Protect Your Valuables

Many homeowners wonder whether or not investing in a wall safe is a wise decision. Some find it comforting to have their valuables on hand while others still prefer having them stored at the bank in a safety deposit box. There are reasonable agreements to be made for either thought process, however having your own wall safe may be a better choice for some homeowners. Here are some of the advantages that you will find by having your safe in your own home.

The first one is the cost related. A safe that you purchase for your home will be a onetime expenditure. This means that you only need to pay out of your pocket once and that is just for the cost of the safe. Whereas, if you rent a safety deposit box you will need to pay the bank on a regular basis for the box which can run from 0 a year or more for as long as you have it. Many people are not willing to pay for a service that they can provide for themselves and therefore keeping more of their money in their own pocket.

Accessibility is another issue people should look at when they are considering purchasing their own safe. One of the major down falls of having your valuables stored at the bank is that you can only get to them during banking hours. This can be very inconvenient especially in the case of an emergency. For example what if you store extra cash for times of emergency in your safety deposit box and a natural disaster occurs such as a floods, wild fires, or tornados? When unexpected events like this occur your bank is also going to close so you are stuck with no way to get to your cash.

Safety concerns are another good argument for having a safe installed in your home. Many homeowners are also gun owners and being a gun owner requires a certain amount of extra safety precautions in the home. Many choose to use the type of wall safe that is biometric so that they have quick access to their gun in case of emergency. What this type of safe does is requires a preprogrammed finger print reading before the safe can be opened. This means that none of your children can guess the combination and open the safe and it also means that you will have access to your gun in seconds.

Having a place to store your valuables in your home is a great idea. You can conceal your valuables by placing them in a safe on your walls. They can be flushed mounted so they are not even detectable. There are several strong arguments for storing your valuables at home including cost effectiveness, easy access, and safety. Once you have decided to purchase your safe make sure it has all the protection you need such as fire resistance, water proofing and biometrics, if need be. There are many practical reasons to consider owing a wall safe.

Secure Biometric Wall Safe and Gun Safe: a Homeowners Dream Come True

There are a number of secure safes that are efficient, but none quite measure up to the new biometric wall safe and gun safe. It truly is a homeowners dream com true whether you are looking to place expensive jewelry, money, or a handgun in. While they can be quite pricey, it is hard to put a price on valuables to this degree.

The new fingerprint biometric wall safe can keep handguns, jewelry, and personal items more secure than any other safe on the market. There are two compartments in the safe, the main storage unit and the hidden storage unit. The main storage unit can hold jewelry and approximately two handguns, while the hidden unit can accommodate ammunition and other small personal items.

What truly blows this safe out of the water is its technical physicality’s making it virtually impossible to break into. The biometric wall safe and gun safe has cutting edge biometric finger recognition technology and a heavy stainless steel construction. With this, you can rest assured that your valuables are 100% safe from any harm.

With some safes, you have to worry about remembering a combination or keeping track of a key. And even then sometimes it takes a few times to get the key to work properly or have the combination access right. With this technology, the door easily opens with the quick recognition of your fingerprint. This can eliminate a lot of time if you are in a hurry.

If you have other family members that you want to be able to access it, the biometric wall safe can store multiple fingerprints. The biometric sensor can store up to 6 fingerprints in memory. The fingerprints can then be stored, verified, or deleted by the touch of your finger.

The wall vault uses a 12-volt rechargeable battery that is long lasting and included. Because of this, you never have to worry about replacing the battery or fixing anything. All you have to do is recharge the battery from time to time, but it last a long time.

Because it is a wall safe, you will also find that it takes up very little space to your home. This makes it extremely practical to place wherever you choose to in your home. It has the right capacity for your important documents and jewelry and is heavily guarded. Its welded body construction provides the extra security needed, and surprisingly it is an extremely easy installation.

There are keypad safes or fingerprint biometric wall safe and gun safes to choose from. You can find keypad safes for around 0 and fingerprint safes around 0 to 0. But with the biometric technology, it is difficult to put a price on the added security.

Everybody Loves the Mystique of a Wall Safe

Everybody Loves the Mystique of a Wall Safe

Who doesn't like the idea of a wall safe? They are cool and fun. As a kid I used to dream about how to make special hiding places for things, both inside and out. It wasn't very sophisticated. Usually a little box or hollowed out tube of some sort would keep me happy. Of course, hide-and-go-seek was always my favorite game. As an adult, I still have a fascination with all things clandestine and sneaky. Secret codes, hidden compartments, bugs, top secret information, listening devices, that sort of thing. I guess the appeal of a wall safe comes from the excitement of knowing something that someone else doesn't.

Sometimes a wall safe is best when it is disguised as something common, something we are all used to seeing. Valuables don't always have to be hidden behind an expensive painting or fancy moveable bookcase. Besides, most of us can't afford that anyway, and studies have shown that a thief only spends just a few minutes inside a place that they intend to steal from. I am pretty sure that looking behind bookcases and paintings is something any respectable burglar does right away.

So, like I said, sometimes a wall safe is best when it is simple. For example, one of my favorites is those little safes that look like a common electrical outlet and wall plate. They are cheap, super easy to install, and just downright fun. I am sure that anyone that wanted to could even make one. To install one of these you just have to cut a small rectangle out of your drywall in a suitable location and stick the little wall safe inside. Now you can hide away small valuables in a place so common that a thief will not even think about looking there. I even read that in some precincts, police are finding that these tiny inexpensive units are better than an expensive locked safe!

Now I gotta admit that this little gadget is a little under dressed for some occasions. One problem is that only small items can fit. Another obvious downside is that it isn't locked, meaning that someone could accidentally access it, and last, it does not offer any fire protection. A wall safe that is more suited to protecting weapons or large amounts of cash, passports, deeds, etc., certainly needs to be locked up and offer some degree of fire protection. Alas, there is a wall safe for such purposes. These are designed to be installed in any standard 2x4 or 2x6 framed wall. They could even be built into a cabinet. On the outside these safes tend to have ways to attach things like pictures, mirrors, dart boards, or other items that would hide the safe

Like most things, you get what you pay for, and a wall safe is no different. Those designed to be fire proof, can be creatively concealed, have high-tech fingerprint or numeric access technology will cost a pretty penny. I would, however, definitely opt for one of these if I had handguns or other dangerous or high value items to conceal. Until then I think I'll try my hand at making something simple and fun, like a hollowed out book. Wish me luck!

default Floor, In Floor and Wall Safes: Which Style is Best for You?

Most people purchase a safe to protect personal valuables from fire or theft. Your circumstances, as well as personal preferences, determines your needs in what type of safe you need. There are a lot of safes out there, especially if you take into account all the small and portable safes. But when it comes to the larger home and gun safes, there are three main styles based upon where the safe is placed. Those three styles are floor, in-floor and wall safes.

When I think of wall safes, I think of TV or movies and safecracking. Such as Jennifer Garner in Alias having to steal the priceless Rambaldi artifact from the bad guy's office safe. In movies, the safe seems to usually be hidden behind a picture, like in the Thomas Crown Affair, so that may not be the best way to disguise wall safe since that would be the first place any movie goer would look.

Wall safes are usually smaller than floor safes, are not very difficult to install, and provide convenient storage for important items. Of course, if installed in dry wall, it is not very secure from burglars since they could just remove the entire safe and carry it off to open else where. If you need security and not just fire protection (which you probably want, or why would you conceal your safe in a wall? Just because its cool?) then you need to install the safe with concrete in a concrete, block or brick wall.

Wall Vault Biometric

This hand gun safe is the perfect place to store your guns without worrying who can get to them. Secure your firearm with this wall safe that is Department of Justice approved for home safety. Do you feel safe in your home or neighborhood Have you thought about having a hand gun in the house for protection but don't want your kids to get a hold of it Gun ownership comes with many responsibilities but now you'll have one less to worry about. This hand gun safe is the perfect place to store your firearms without having to worry about who can access to them. This wall safe uses the latest advances in fingerprint measurement technology to quickly allow you access to your gun safe and prevents unauthorized people from getting in.  he main storage space of the home safe can accommodate approximately two hand guns while the hidden storage compartment in the back of this in wall safe is the perfect place to ammunition and other small valuables such as jewelry passports and credit cards.  The biometric sensor can store up to 6 different fingerprints scans so you won't have to worry about loosing keys for this wall safe.

Floor, In Floor and Wall Safes: Which Style is Best for You?

Floor safes are the style seen a lot in local sports and general stores. These are safes that, as you can probably guess, are designed to sit on the floor. They are normally quite heavy and are bolted down, usually to the floor but often to a wall also, or two walls if the safe is placed in a corner. Both the weight and the bolts are huge deterrents to burglars. If you are not placing your floor safe on a ground floor, you will want to make sure that the floor can support the weight of the safe. The last thing you want is your safe to break through the floor and fall to the basement or apartment bellow you!

In its own weird way, an in-floor safe is a combination of floor and wall safes. You use the floor instead of the wall, and you place the safe inside of it. These types of safes often do not meet UL construction guidelines to earn a UL fire rating, but still are fairly safe against fire and burglary if installed wisely. The best place to put an in-floor safe is in the corner of your concrete basement floor. The basement because it is the lowest floor in your house. Fire rises, so the safe won't get as hot as quickly as a safe higher up in your house. This gives the extra fire protection desired and compensates for the lack of in-floor safes not meeting UL standards. The concrete is best for the same reasons wall safes are more secure in concrete - harder to carry off. And finally, in the corner because if someone does try to break into your safe, it makes it a lot more uncomfortable for the thief, it is harder to access from all sides and therefore takes longer to break into.

Floor, In Floor and Wall Safes: Which Style is Best for You?

Any of these three styles of safes is great for protecting your valuables, you just have to decide what works best for you. If you are building a home, then it is an opportune time for installing in-floor or wall safes, but these can be installed in any home at any time as long as you meet the manufactures guidelines. How Secure Are Electronic Safes?

Most people are still concerned that they could become the victim of crime. In spite the fact that official figures suggest that there is less reason to be afraid than in the past, this does not satisfy everyone. While crime statistics may appear to show that overall crime is decreasing, burglary and housebreaking are still a major concern. Recent security sales suggest that most householders have become more careful about home security.

31gzYrd9mSL. AA280 How Secure Are Electronic Safes? One way of keeping your most precious possessions and documents secure is to put them in a safe. There are various kinds of domestic safes on the market, many with an electronic locking system. Home safes have been around for a long time but they have evolved over the years and many have sophisticated digital and electronic locking systems. Electronic safes have various locking systems and some of them are even secured against key loss or theft.

The security of your home safe is often measured by where it is kept. If it is on the floor in the spare room or attached to a wall but in full view, then it is not as secure as a safe that has been installed under the floor. When burglars think they have some time to spare then they may easily discover hidden wall safes, so you need to take care that the locking system is secure.

Not all electronic safes are as secure as you imagine them to be, often because the body and door of the safe are not considered sufficiently robust or because the safe is too easy to remove from its position. Generally speaking the greater the cash rating of your safe then the more secure it is likely to be.

Security safes are designed to prevent a burglar or thief getting their hands on your cash and your valuables, however not all electronic safes are as secure as you might wish. Safes that are opened with a key card rather than a key or a combination are more likely to be a security risk as the cards, just like many other electronic cards, are all too easy to duplicate. A better option is an electronic safe that uses biometric fingerprint recognition for the safe to be opened. This is virtually burglar proof because the safe requires your fingerprint to gain access.

If you can afford it then probably the best and most secure option is a wall vault or safe that is built into a wall in your home and which also requires biometric fingerprinting to access it. One of these high protection security safes are so secure that it is virtually impossible for an intruder to access your valuables.
