What’s the best way to reduce moisture in a gun safe?
Our metal gun safe is not stored in the most ideal place. I suspect it will gather some moisture if we're not careful. What can I use to keep the inside dry?
A "GoldenRod" dehumidifier. You can pick one up at Cabela's or Bass Pro for about $30.

Browning makes a rod dehumidifier as well, and it sells for around the same price.

I do not know the exact name but on the canister I have it says:
Hydrosorbent 40 gram silica gel
It comes in a white and gray package and the product is in an alumimun canister. It cost me about 8 bucks and when you see the silica gel turn pink you stick it in the oven at 300 degrees for 30 minutes.
In the link it is the smaller one. 3 cu ft. I have a smaller safe. I am not sure about the other products in the pic but I am sure you can find something at the site.

a little amout is good for an wooden gun, but to a certain extent, and not a little moisture to no moisture and then from bone dry to a little moisture i think just the right amount of moisture will keep evrything nice and tight but too much will start messing with screws and sights but if it is in a basement i would turn a get a dehumidifier that had a small amount of moisture tolerance but i wouldt completley turn my rifles into beef jerky. i would rather they swelled too tight then shrink and get wobbly

The longest Goldenrod that fits, they come in a few lengths. There are a few silica gel products that you can buy that don’t use electricity and that don’t need a power cord, but the Goldenrod works the best and the only thing you need to do to it is plug it in.
