Where can I find info on the best gun safes?

I tried consumer reports, and they dont rate them. Any ideas?

The top of the line best gun safes in the world are graffunders safe and Vault. These also cost much more than any thing you can get at Bass Pro, Gander Mtn, or Cabales. The Graffunder Safe I am looking at getting is a 48 to 60 gun F class that weighs in at a nice 5400 pounds.

Your run of the mill "Gun Safe" is not a safe at all. It is a Residental Security Container (RSC). The RSC will prevent 99.9999999% of the firearm theft in the USA. So do not feel under protected with one.

If you are not in need of the ultra high security of a Graffunder look at Cannon Safes these are the top of the line in the Gun Safes that a normal person can afford.

hear are my top three

The best place to find info on gun safes is to hit the boards. I’m a member of Sigforum, Smith&wessonforum, etc. The best place to get info is from the people that actually are using the product. They will have the information on fire ratings, ACTUAL gun capacity, quality, etc. They usually will have the links to webpages as well. I am actually picking up a new 31 gun safe on Monday from Gander Mountain. It is a Timber Ridge safe, made by Liberty for Gander Mountain. I would hit the boards and do your research, talk to some people. You can also do a search for liberty gun safes and fort knox.

The "best" gun safe and one that is appropriate for your needs are probably not going to be one in the same.

I have had great luck with the two Browning safes that I own. One for a little over 30 years the other was purchased in 1981.

One is 62"- 30" - 24 " and "only" weighs around 425lbs >Keep in mind that you can bolt these to the floor and by the time you add those 10,000rds of 7.62mm you have sitting around plus firearms and accessories. Your typical burglar is not going to go running out the back door with your safe under his arm.

The other is 72" - 40" - 28" - the door on this one, by itself, is heavier than my other safe. You really have to keep in mind when you buy a safe this large/heavy. How you are going to move it if need be, and where you are going to put it.

IMO it’s only common sense to balance what you need to protect and the cost of that protection. Spending 3-5k to protect 10k worth of firearms, would not make much sense to me. You can buy a very nice, reasonable priced safe for $1,000-$1,500

The way I look at is that the thief with enough skill and the tools to break into a safe like that is not going to bother. The reward to him/her is not worth the risk.

In my opinion… I bought a patriot safe that is massive, with all the bells and whistles, 1800 deg./hr. rating. I couldn’t be happier with it, it doesn’t have the high gloss finish, but I know that my guns are safe, and can hold out in a fire until it is put out. why pay for a name??
